Powerblock Classic Adjustable Dumbbell Set Product Description

The Powerblock dumbells are your 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, and 45lb dumbbells all-in-one.  They can be adjusted by moving the pins around, similar to a weight room stack.  Based on the weight that you would like to use, adjust the dumbbell accordingly and you have home gym in a 12″x6″ space.

Pro’s

  • Best space saver of the adjustable dumbbells
  • Easy to adjust
  • Up to 45lbs for each dumbbell
  • All you need for a home workout
  • Durable Rubber Grip
  • Smaller than other adjustable dumbbells

Con’s

  • Reports of Pins falling out
  • Expensive (Like all adjustable dumbbells, an investment)
  • Too many safety near-misses
  • Recommended to buy the stand

The Powerblock Clasisc Adjutable Dumbbells come with a durable padded grip for added wrist protection; one key aspect missing in the Bowflex Selectech dumbbells.

Another key benefit in the Powerblock is that it is very compact.  When compraed with other adjustabel dumbbells, it is shorter, skinner, and not as tall as the others making them easier to use for certain exercises; like standing bicep curls.

The Powerblock is fairly easy to adjust, we say that because yes, it is very easy to adjust in 10lb increments.  But once you start trying to adjust in 2.5 lb and 5lb increments, it can get a little tedious.  It is recommended that you buy the stand to go with these as it makes it much easier to change the pins than setting them on the ground.

The main benefits for the Powerblock Classic are that the best space saver and they are shorter and more compact.

Who Should Purchase the PowerBlock Classic Adjustable Dumbbells?

Each of the major brand name adjustable dumbbells have their own perks.  The Powerblock Classic are for people that want a smaller more compact dumbbell for doing exercises over the head or with both dumbbells out in front of the body.  As an example, if you dont mind the size of the Bowflex Selectech dumbbells, then these will not be necessary for you.  But if that bulky size bothers you, then the PowerBlock Classic would be a good alternative.

I recommend that people who workout at home buy at least one type of adjutable dumbbell for their home gym.  The Powerblock is not my choice, but that is because I do not need the additional space and I can live without a rubber grip on the Bowflex Selectech.

  1. LOL. Hysterical about the bands before stitnarg Power 90, we purchased the same Terrel Owens Bodylastics set! It has served us well through the Power 90 workouts and then Power 90 Master Series .. certainly within reason anyhow pretty much the whole time I have been waiting to purchase the Powerblocks well, we started P90X just this past Monday and was about to go pick up the Sport 9.0 set tomorrow, literally but thanks to your You Tube review and this one, I’ll definitely be going with the Sport 5.5 and the option to upgrade to 80lbs !
