Hyperwear Sandbell Product Description

The Hyperwear Sandbells are durable neoprene bags filled with sand for weights from 2lb to 50lbs.  They are a very versatile product allowing them to be used in place of several products including dumbbells, kettlebells, barbells, medicine balls, slam balls, and grip bags.  The sandbells are a great addition to a workout as the sand forms around your hand so you must grip the bags tightly in order to hold onto them, increasing your grip strength.

Pro’s

  • Versatility
  • Perform traditional exercises non-traditonally
  • Increased Grip strength
  • Functional fitness
  • Every pro of kettlebells, medicine balls, and dumbbells
  • Easy storage
  • Ship without weight for reduced cost
  • Safer than dumbbells, kettlebells, and medicine balls
  • Pound for pound, cheap

Con’s

  • Have to fill yourself
  • May leak sand, but mostly leaks dust
  • Grip strength may limit your workouts
  • Per square inch (volume), lighter than cast-iron AKA larger than kettlebells

The Hyperwear Sandbells can be used like kettlebells for several functional fitness moves like the classic kettlebell swing, now the sandbell swing?  They can also be used like medicine balls for things like weighted sit ups, overhead slams, or like medicine ball throws with a partner.

The best part about the Sandbells?  They are safer than dumbbells, kettlebells, and medicine balls.  If you drop them on your toe, they will not hurt nearly as bad as the sand will form around your foot.  If you hit your partner in the face with the sandbell it will hurt much less than a medicine ball.  And lastly, if you happen to catch yourself in the wrong spot during a kettlebell swing, it will hurt a lot less than the cast-iron kettlebell.

Furthermore, the Hyperwear Sandbells stack, allowing for easy storage, unlike kettlebells or dumbbells where they would need to be lined up next to each other.  They are also pound for pound cheaper than cast-iron, so you can buy a whole sandbell set and your home fitness gym for cheaper.

Who should purchase the Hyperwear Sandbells?

If you’re looking to buy a set of kettlebells or dumbbells then the Hyperwear Sandbells may be a nice fit to your home gym.  In my opinion, the sandbells do not completely replace dumbbells, as a few of the presses are a bit awkward with sandbells, but there is not any real reason you should need sandbells and kettlebells.  Unless, you’re using over 50+ pounds, then the sandbells just get too large to do functional moves with.

One thing to note, is that you will want to purchase a funnel with the sandbells in order to fill them as they ship empty in order to reduce shipping costs.  Another thing to mention, is if you have arthritis or grip problems, you may want to look at another alternative.  Because the Hyperwear Sandbells put such an emphasis on grip strength, if you lack grip strength, your workout will be limited.

That being said, the Sandbells are an affordable, great addition to a home gym by adding functional fitness and full body moves.
