Abmat Abdominal Trainer Product Description

The Abmat is a branded ab assistant specifically designed for Crossfit workouts.  Honestly, there’s no reason that it should be only used for crossfit.  Basically, it helps provide some added support and range of motion when doing crunches and sit ups.

Pro’s

  • Durable
  • High Quality
  • Does not absorb sweat
  • Full range of motion

Con’s

  • Is it actually necessary?
  • Expensive
  • Branded

The Abmat is made from a high-quality, durable material that will not soak up your sweat.  Unless you grossly misuse the product, you shouldn’t have to worry about the Ab mat tearing or breaking.

You will be able to go a little bit further on the abmat then you could normally go with just laying on the floor and you’ll have some added back support.

Who Should Purchase the Abmat Abdominal Trainer?

The Abmat is a decent addition to your home gym.  I’m not sure how necessary it is and I am not a believer.  Certainly, if you use it on a consistent basis, it will help you get a stronger core.  But so will doing plancks, sit ups, crunches, bicycles, etc.

Like most Crossfit gym memberships, the Abmat is a bit expensive for what you are actually getting in return.  That being said, if you stick to it with either Crossfit or the Abmat, you’ll start to see the results you want.

If you got the extra money to spend and want to make you home gym more complete, then sure, buy the Abmat.  Otherwise, I would spend my $35 elsewhere; maybe just buy a yoga mat so you don’t have to do your crunches on a hard surface and could also use it for plyometrics / other activity.
